The Town of Bailey, Colorado
Bailey, Colorado was founded in 1864 by Ann and William Bailey. This frontier pair built the town
from the ground up, completing a hotel, ranch and stage station. In 1878, the Denver South and Park
Railroad established a line at Bailey, and the same the Bailey Post Office opened for business.
Today, Bailey, Colorado is the home to the historic Coney Island Hotdog Stand, a hot dog shaped restaurant.
Bailey, Colorado is located southwest of Denver on the Kenosha Pass, near the Pike National Forest. This
small town offers breathtaking views of the Front Range.

breathtaking views of the Front Range. Bailey's location relative to the mountains and Denver is
similar to the relationship between Estes Park and Loveland. However, the Bailey real estate market
has not seen the same level of development as Estes Park. That situation is likely to change
as Park County is one of the fastest growing areas outlying the Denver metro.
Pine is a neighborhood to the east of Bailey. Homes for sale in Pine are often influenced by ranch architectural styles, and a three bedroom single family home can be found in the
$300,000 range. Occasionally, homes are available with small one and two acre lots. Closer
to the outskirts of Denver, buyers looking for horse-friendly properties can find 10 acre
lots with established barns for about $500,000.
Highland Park is located to the north of Bailey. Homes for sale in Highland Park start around $250,000.
These homes were typically built in the early Seventies, and many feature views of the mountains
and forest. Most Highland Park real estate properties are well treed.
Bailey Schools
Deer Creek Elementary School is also the home of the Early Childhood Education Center, and the school offers
full day kindergarten. Fitzsimmons Middle School accepts sixth to eighth grade students. Platte Canyon High
School handles secondary education for the area's residents. After the much publicized 2006 shooting
incident at the high school, in which a lone gunman took several students hostage, eventually
killing one of the hostages before killing himself, the school addressed several security issues
including campus access and control. Video surveillance has been adopted at the school as well as a
program to control vehicle access to the campus.
Business in Bailey, CO
The town of Bailey has a blend of typical small town businesses. Cozy, sit-down diners and owner
operated restaurants, outdoor outfitters and bait shops and the occasional bed and breakfast
are part of the economic scene. Easy access to the Lost Creek Wilderness Area in the Pike National Forest

bikers.
